The machine-compartment grille comes off before a meter comes out — the one above the doors on a full-height built-in, the one at floor level on an undercounter cabinet — because on this island the condenser explains the fault more often than anything else does. You get told what has failed, shown it where the unit allows, and given one price covering parts and labor before any work begins.
